THE HISTORY OF THE

LoC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

9/17/2005 - 11/5/2005

League of Champions was founded in September of 2005 by Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (Scott Smith). Thought it only survived for a couple of months, it was the most prominent company of its time and was the site of one of the most historically significant events in the history of the business. It was in a League of Champions ring that Jeff Jarrett (Josh Smith) unified the League of Champions, New Era Wrestling, and Solid Gold Wrestling World Heavyweight Championships, merging them into one singular entity for the first and only time in history.

We include this world title history complete and uncut out of respect for the championship, the promotion, and the competitors who worked to make it what it was.

Jeff Jarrett defeated Ric Flair to unify the League of Champions World Heavyweight Championship with the Solid Gold Wrestling and New Era Wrestling World Heavyweight Championships. Jarrett would recognize himself as champion of all three companies until LoC's closure on November 5th, 2005 when the championship would be absorbed into the lineage of the Solid Gold Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship and cease to exist.

When Jeff Jarrett carried the title into Solid Gold Wrestling, he debuted an upgraded model of the championship.
