THE HISTORY
OF THE SGW GIMMICK CHAMPIONSHIP 3/29/2000 - 7/30/2006 The SGW Gimmick Championship can only be defended in stipulation matches. On 7/22/2001, Tommy Dreamer won the championship and renamed it the Extreme Championship until it was vacated on 2/17/2002. When the championship was reinstated in 2006, it was reverted to its Gimmick roots until its unification with the Hardcore Championship at WrestleBrawl 2. |

REIGN Steve Austin won a battle royal to become the first champion.

VACATED Believing the championship was beneath him, Austin vacated it immediately after winning it in order to pursue the World Championship. |
2nd CHAMPION

REIGN Doink the Clown was defeated by The Big Show (Dan Shepherd). After the match, Big Show was awarded the SGW Television Championship by Arn Anderson and Doink was given the SGW Gimmick Championship.

HANDLER DATE REIGN Gangrel defeated Lance Storm in a First Blood Match to become the new champion.

HANDLER DATE REIGN Tommy Dreamer defeated Gangrel and Justin Credible (Unknown) in an Extreme Rules Match to become the new champion. Following the match, Tommy Dreamer spit on the Gimmick Championship and renamed it the SGW EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP, with all matches being contested under Extreme Rules.

is finally laid to rest once and for all.
