THE HISTORY OF THE

SGW PURE WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP

It was decided that the SGW Hardcore and SGW Gimmick Championships had run their course in the newest iteration of Solid Gold Wrestling. SGW owner Jeff Jarrett declared that the championships would be unified to become the SGW Pure Wrestling Championship.

The rules of the Pure Wrestling Division are as follows:

1.) Respectful handshake must occur before and after each match.

2.) Zero tolerance policy in effect at all times for cheating.

3.) All matches are one on one.

4.) No stipulation or gimmick matches. The only exceptions to this rule are: Iron Man Match; Two out of Three Falls match; Submission match; and Ultimate Submission match.

5.) No special guest referees.

6. Throwing your opponent over the top rope results in disqualification.

7.) Attacking your opponent outside of the ring results in disqualification.

8.) Managers, valets, and tag team partners are barred from ringside.

9.) Each match will be contested with a 60 minute time limit.

10.) The championship can change hands on a disqualification or count out.

The reigning SGW Hardcore Champion, Chris Benoit, defeated the reigning SGW Gimmick Champion, Alex Shelley (Matt Gorsuch) to unify the championships, becoming the first ever SGW Pure Wrestling Champion at WrestleBrawl 2.

Immediately following the conclusion of the match Chris Benoit refused to release the Crippler Crossface, forcing the referee to reverse the decision, disqualifying Benoit and awarding the championship to Alex Shelley.

Alex Shelley vacated the SGW Pure Wrestling Championship upon winning the SGW World Heavyweight Championship.
