Only one week after that, The Godfather laid out an open challenge to anyone from the back. Sting descended from the rafters and immediately landed the Scorpion Death Drop to become the new champion in under 10 seconds.

One hour after becoming the new United States Champion, Shane Douglas defeated Bret "The Hitman" Hart (Tyler Courtney) in a Steel Cage Match to become the new SGW World Heavyweight Champion. Shane Douglas vacated the United States Championship, per the SGW rulebook at the time.

Bret Hart won the first ever Battle Bowl match to become the new SGW United States Champion.

Immediately after winning the championship, Bret Hart thanked the fans and announced that he couldn't accept the SGW United States Championship because his eyes were set on the SGW World Heavyweight Championship. He vacated the championship. SGW owner Arn Anderson immediately booked an impromptu match between Steve Corino (Kfir Hezroni), Lance Storm (Patrick Quinlan), and The Rock (John Baron) to crown the new champion.

Johnny the Bull defeated The Hurricane (Jason King) to become the new SGW United States Champion, ending Chavo's reign in the process.

Upon defeating Chavo Guerrero (Matt Gorsuch) for the SGW World Heavyweight Championship, Johnny the Bull awarded his Money Inc. partner Val Venis with the SGW United States Championship.

The Undertaker defeated Val Venis to become the new SGW United States Champion after excessive interference from The Apokolips.

Controversy surrounding the violence televised during the formation of The Apokolips led the network to put SGW Shock on hiatus before ultimately deciding to cancel the program, effectively causing SGW to cease operation for a number of years. The Undertaker was consequently stripped of the SGW United States Championship and it was declared vacant.

Steve Austin defeated "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters (Mike Adkins) in the finals of the World Warrior tournament to become the new SGW United States Chamapion.

It was decided by SGW owner Jeff Jarrett that the vacant championship would be decided in a match between heated rivals Matt Hardy (Archie Caplin) and Ken Kennedy (James Parkin).

Matt Hardy defeated Ken Kennedy (James Parkin) to become the new SGW United States Champion.

As the reigning SGW Intercontinental Champion, Raven defeated Matt Hardy in a Raven's Rules match to unify the championships. Upon his victory, the United States championship and its lineage were absorbed into the Intercontinental Championship.
